THE CHALLENGING ENCOUNTER

THE CHALLENGING ENCOUNTER is an interactive workshop that equips employees with the tools necessary to effectively and safely perform in difficult situations.  This workshop also brings the employer into compliance with the training requirements of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations Part 27, requiring all employees in Alberta  to receive safety training in Workplace Violence Prevention.  British Columbia has similar legislation under Occupational Health and Safety Regulations Part 4.  THE CHALLENGING ENCOUNTER is about more than fulfilling legislative requirements.  It is about creating a respectful workplace that enhances the comfort and safety of all workers and encourages behavioral excellence.

THE CHALLENGING ENCOUNTER can be customized according to the needs of the participants and the employer.  It is offered in two parts.

I. THE CHALLENGE

Employees are equipped with tools that enable them to safely and effectively manage challenging situations with colleagues and/or customers (such as bullying and harassment) in a manner that defuses anger and prevents the situation from escalating into violence.

II.  THE DANGER

Employees are equipped with the tools necessary to effectively  and safely manage threatening situations such as domestic violence that makes its way to the workplace, coworker violence and robbery (requirements under the legislation).
